Figuring out a faster way

This week i replaced the axle bushings on my 84 F250.  The old ones had rotted and were completely gone so i thought it was about time to replace them.  In the book it says this job should take between 6 and 8 hours to finish.  This is because according to the book you are supposed to pull out the entire axle and use a press to remove and replace the bushings.  We figured out that if you just take the tires off and pull the bolts that run through the bushings you can drop the two sides down and replace them with everything still attached to the truck.  This turned an 8 hour job into a 2 hour job.  I also replaced the thermostat on the pickup.
40 hours this week
302 hours total
